About Reef. No, not only sandals.

At first let's see what is this name: Reef.

Reef in nature is a rock, sandbar or other feature (btw. a corall-reef) beneath the water, under its surface.

Unfortunatelly I don't write here about nature and its miracles. What I'm going to write about is an authentic surf-inspired fashion brand called Reef.

Reef is a well-known and very-very popular fashion brand - especially in Australia and in the Americas but in Europe too. The company originated in 1984, designed and branded autentic, surf inspired products. The brand has been defined further by the elite class of surf riders who always search the best waves in the most beautiful places on the planet. Riders, like Bobby Martinez, Sofia Mulanovich. Rob Machado and Mick Fanning are all great surfers, living such a life, that only a small portion of the mankind ever gets to experience.

It has began twenty year earlier with two brothers in Argentina, named Fernando and Santiago Aguerre. They were passionated surfers and they acted on an idea to make a high quality, active lifestyle sandal. Santiago moved to California in the early 80's and shortly reunited with his brother, who graduated in a Law School and went to LA to help co-found Reef.

With four thousand dollars working capital, hard work, dedication and savvy marketing ideas, the Aguerre brothers built Reef into the number one sandal brand. The company now is thriving as one of the leading surf brands in the world offering footwear and apparel for men, women and kids.

Fernando and Santiago wanted to differentiate themselves from the other surf companies. Inspired by the beautiful women of the beaches of South America, the brothers introduced Miss Reef. Girls representing the actual Miss Reef has no face or identity (the photos are mainly shows their bottoms with a sexy swim-tanga and real name not known), the brothers using this name to help convey their idea of the surf lifestyle. Altough the first advertisements involved Miss Reef were rejected for the controversial content, some magazines convinced, and the ads finally ran. Since then Miss Reef has become a global icon of the surfing communtiy. There are many Miss Reef contests on all the world's biggest surf beaches with beautiful girls.

So Reefers are surfers at heart. They still stand for the same things that the company was founded on back in 1984. Reef is a core surf company. They create authentic and innovative products - not only sandals, they have a very broad portfolio.
